Sunday is the day to party in Langley as two neighbourhoods – Yorkson and Murrayville – host block parties.
The Yorkson Block Party runs 10 a.m. to noon at Yorkson Creek Middle School, and involves an array of groups, including Trinity Western University Spartans men’s hockey team, Hakam’s Independent Grocery, Living Waters Church, TableTutors.com, and more.
There will be free bouncy castles, games, street hockey and a skills contest with the Spartans for both kids and adults, food trucks, a photo booth, and giveaways from local businesses.
The event is intended to help people in Yorkson and Willoughby connect, and anyone wanting to take part in the hockey is asked to bring a hockey stick.
In Murrayville, the activities run noon to 4 p.m. at Five Corners, 216th Street and 48th Avenue.
People can bring their pets for a pet blessing. There will also be live music, a pop up farmers market with local artisans and food, crafts, music, games, a bouncy castle, yoga for all ages, a selfie station, church tours, and more.
Again the family-oriented event hosted by the United Church is to help residents of that neighbourhood create a sense of community.
