UPDATE: Firefighters touring several Langley neighbourhood this weekend

On Saturday, Langley Township firefighters will help Santa hand out treats. On Sunday, another group will do it again, with singing.

Firefighters will be escorting Santa Claus this Saturday through the streets of Murrayville for the annual Candy Cane Run.

Hall 6 firefighters will be helping Santa hand out candy canes starting at 10 a.m. with Christmas tunes, fire trucks and Santa.

They will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items as well.

On Sunday night, firefighters from Hall 8 in Walnut Grove will collecting food and cash donations for the Langley food bank with their annual caroling parade that starts at 6 p.m. at the fire hall on 208th Street and 96th Avenue.

Carolers in covered wagons from the Aldor Acres farm will travel past Gordon Greenwood Elementary, James Kennedy Elementary, Walnut Grove Secondary School, Walnut Grove Community Centre and then across 88 Avenue, past Alex Hope Elementary School and wind back through the neighbourhoods between 212 Street, 214B Street and 95 Avenue, across 96 Avenue, up Yeoman’s and then through Derby Hills and home.

It is organized by the Township of Langley Firefighters’ Charitable Society, a registered not-for-profit society involved in a variety of initiatives including including a snack program for local students and fundraising for the Langley Hospital Foundation, the B.C. Professional Firefighters Association Burn Fund and Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Firefighters will be touring Brookswood on Dec. 15 starting at 9 a.m. Details are posted on the Brookswood Community Page (Facebook closed group).

In Willoughby, TOL firefighters will be at 2328 Wakefield Dr. on Saturday, Dec. 15, starting at 6:30 p.m.
