Dear Editor,
Re: [Terry Fox Run beats target, Langley Advance Times, Sept. 18]
It is amazing that 44 years later Terry Fox and the Terry Fox Run still has such an impact on our community and our country.
Many of the participants and those making donations were not even born when Terry started his Marathon of Hope back in 1981.
This young man showed such courage, perseverance, and commitment.
He combined those traits with a humble, down to earth and sincere personality, which did and still does resonate with so many Canadians.
The Langley City Terry Fox Run each year exemplifies these same qualities.
The volunteers, many who were new in 2024, come out and support the runners.
They accept donations, set up the tents and tables at Douglas Park and act as route marshals to help ensure the run is safe.
Each year the participants are cheerful, appreciative and generous in donating funds to further cancer research.
It shows how one’s personality traits can have a very positive impact on others, directly and indirectly.
Thanks to all those who are helping to keep Terry’s dream alive.
