This fall, the Langley Centennial Museum is hosting a group of researchers, historians and archaeologists to speak on various local history topics.
Upcoming sessions include In the Footsteps of Alexander Mackenzie on Oct. 15 from 3 to 5 p.m. with archaeologist Rick Blacklaws. He will share details about his fascinating journey to a remote region in B.C., where he gain a more in-depth understanding of Alexander Mackenzie and the crossing of the North American continent.
The Edge Family Project will be presented by the Maple Ridge Family History Group on Nov. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m., who will share their ongoing research on the Edge Family Legacy Project.
The Edges were well-known citizens of Maple Ridge and Langley, and were heavily involved in farming, politics and helping where they could throughout the community.
Archaeologist and Kwantlen Polytechnic University Instructor Brian Pegg will also be speaking on Nov. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. on the Gold Rush of 1858. Sharing stories of his research, he will be introducing archaeological tools and artifacts found in the Fraser Canyon.
