Comedians and musicians don't typically share a stage at the same time, but an internationally renowned ensemble is expected to tickle a few funny bones during their musical presentation in Langley next weekend.
Quartetto Gelato will be performing at Langley Community Music School (LCMS) next Saturday, April 12, and the school's artistic director of concerts expects the show will be "incredible."
With sold-out performances in New York, Washington, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, this multi award-winning ensemble has enchanted audiences and critics worldwide with its exotic blend of musical virtuosity, artistic passion, and humour, said Elizabeth Bergmann.
“The members of Quartetto Gelato are musical virtuosos and true entertainers,” she noted.
“Our community will enjoy a scintillating, multi-instrumental performance that combines the sounds of violin, cello, oboe, accordion, and even a saw!”
Violinist and vocalist Konstantin Popovic will join with accordionist Matti Pulkki, oboist Colin Maier, and cellist Dobrochna Zubek to perform repertoire that will span the globe and include a mix of classical masterworks with tangos, Romany, klezmer, jazz and folk songs, engaging vocals, and a theatrical stage presence.
“We invite everyone to join us for an incredibly entertaining evening of music and laughs,” said Bergmann.
Other upcoming professional concerts at LCMS include the Brad Turner Quarter on April 25, the Pocket Symphonies – with Jasper Wood, Joseph Elworthy, and the Bergmann Piano Duo – on May 3, plus flutist Paolo Bortolussi and pianist Dr. Corey Hamm on May 25.
Tickets for the April 12 show are $35 for adults, $32 for seniors, $18 for students, and $10 for LCMS students. People can call the box office at 604-534-2848 or purchase tickets online at Eventbrite. The performance is being hosted in the LCMS's Rose Gellert Hall, which is located at 4899 207 St.
