A 23 year old Aldergrove man was taken into custody Friday evening shortly after he allegedly tried to steal an elderly couple’s vehicle.

The victims had stopped their truck outside the home of their son on 30th Ave., near the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre, at about 11:40 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9.

The victim’s son told The Aldergrove Star that his father, a 70 year old pastor, got out of the truck to hand deliver a parcel to his son’s home while his wife sat in the passenger seat.

At that point the suspect came up to the driver’s door and told the woman to “get the (expletive deleted) out of the truck.”

The woman replied that he better get out of the truck while he could.

The suspect ran off while the husband ran back to the truck to help his wife and call for help from the police.

Langley RCMP arrested the suspect a short distance away. The suspect has since been released and is to return to court to face charges.
