Gas leak closes suburban area in Langley

Township fire on scene at 204 Street and 72 Avenue

People are being asked to avoid the area of 204 Street and 72 Avenue as crews deal with a gas leak.

At approximately 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Langley RCMP responded to a report of a gas leak.

"Our officers are currently blocking several intersections in the area along 208 Street and 203 Street on 72 Avenue assisting the Township of Langley Fire Department," said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, of the Langley RCMP. "The cause of this gas leak is still being investigated at this time, and we can confirm that there are no reported injuries to anyone, and affected residents are being evacuated."

Motorists are being asked to find alternate routes temporarily.
