This year, the Fort Langley Historic Half Marathon marks its 18th anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 18.

The 5k, 10k, and half-marathon races start at 9 a.m. at the Bedford Plaza, 23285 Bill Brown Rd.

More than 600 runners participated in last year’s race.

Registration has closed, said TryEvents race director Mitchell Hudson, but volunteers are still needed.

“We could use some volunteers to help us with being a course marshal or help with water stations,” he said.

Volunteer shifts are 8 a.m. to noon. Those interested in volunteering can email run@tryevents.ca.

Specific roles for volunteers will be assigned the morning of the race.

Funds raised from the half marathon go towards supporting the Langley Senior Resources Society.

The Historic Half Marathon route follows the Fort to Fort trail along the Fraser River through Derby Reach Provincial Park.

Race package pick-up is available at Cascades Casino on Friday, Feb. 16, from 2 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Packages can also be picked up the day of the race at the registrar with a $5 donation to LSRS from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
