Parents of Peterson Road Elementary organized the school's first Shred-A-Thon fundraiser to support the PAC on Saturday, June 1.
Scott Strudwick, local realtor supporting the event whose son attends Peterson, said all funds raised go back into the school to support the needs of kids.
"I met with the PAC and we came up with the idea to raise some money... this is the first year we're doing it," he said.
He believes they surpassed the goal of $1,000, noting it was busy since the event started.
"One guy rolled in with a truck of 42 boxes in the back. We've had some really generous people donate too."
Strudwick anticipates more fundraising events in the school's future.
"It's important to give back to your community and I think this is an easy event for the PAC to put on. It's gone really well," Strudwick shared.
A food truck was also on site, and Strudwick's four-year-old son, Hank, who attends Peterson was all smiles helping his dad out.
