A suspected drunk driver who fled the scene of a crash on Sunday has not been located yet, Langley RCMP said.
Cpl. Craig van Herk released more details on Tuesday.
On Sunday, Oct. 1, about 4:45 a.m., he said RCMP received several reports of an SUV driving erratically on 200th near 62nd Avenue.
The SUV, a white Tahoe, was located a short while later in the 6500-block of 200th Street where it had collided with a tree in the median.
“The SUV had sustained significant damage, all airbags had been deployed and was no longer drivable,” van Herk said.
“Witnesses reported the driver, a Caucasian man wearing a black and red shirt, ran from the SUV east toward 66 Avenue.”
A police dog service and “numerous” Langley units responded, but the driver was not located.
At the time, police said the driver was believed to be impaired.
“At this point, the vehicle has not been reported as stolen and we continue to investigate,” Cpl. van Herk said Tuesday.
