All Langley public schools were closed for the second day in a row on Thursday, Jan. 18, following a heavy snowfall in the area, the school district announced.

The closure includes the school board office, the Langley Education Centre, and all early learning and daycare programming on district properties, according to an announcement on the district website.

Facility rentals are cancelled for the day.

Many other districts are announcing widespread closures as well, as snow began falling around midnight yesterday and continued through Wednesday afternoon.

Many private schools were also closed, including The King’s School in Milner, Credo Christian in Murrayville, and St. Catherine’s Elementary in Brookswood.

At the post-secondary level, Kwantlen Polytechnic was also closed at all campuses, including its Langley campus, for the day. Online courses were still being offered.

At Trinity Western University, the Langley campus was open for essential services and in-person classes. The TWU website advised students to check their Moodle site for info on how to access their classes.
