VIDEO: Stabbing in Aldergrove near elementary school

Langley RCMP were on scene near Shortreed Community Elementary early Tuesday

Two youths were stabbed and taken to hospital in Aldergrove early on the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 3, Langley RCMP said.

Just before 4 a.m., Mounties responded to a 9-1-1 call, reporting that a young person had been stabbed. Officers arrived and located the youth, said Cpl. Craig van Herk, spokesperson for Langley RCMP.

Moments later, a second youth was located nearby, also with wounds consistent with a stabbing, he said.

Both were taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services ambulance for treatment. Their injuries are considered non-life threatening, van Herk said.

Locals reported the incident took place near Shortreed Community Elementary, which is located in the 27300-block of 28 Avenue.

Officers from Langley RCMP and Abbotsford Police  as well as a canine unit were seen searching a housing complex just down the street from the school

As of Tuesday morning, the investigation was in early stages. Van Herk confirmed the two youths who were taken to hospital were known to each other and the incidents are believed to be connected.

"No suspect details or information is known," said van Herk.

The Langley RCMP general investigation section was in the area Tuesday canvassing local residents and speaking with witnesses.

Any witnesses to the attacks, or anyone who has any information about the incident, is asked to call the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number #2024-39315.
