The Aldergrove Kodiaks improved their standing to 28 points after 28 games with a pair of wins last week.
Th Kodiaks blanked the Mission Outlaws 3-0 Saturday night at Mission Leisure Centre.
The Kodiaks outshot the Outlaws in every period for a game total of 41-20 and also scored on one of three power plays.
Kodiak Clayton Schroeder opened the scoring in the first period, assisted by Davin Padgham and Kodiak Conor Byrne followed it a couple minutes later, assisted by Paulvir Dosanjh and DJ Horne.
Kodiaks Mathieu Melanson scored on the power play in the second period, assisted by Nate Castonguay and Dayton Spink.
Kodiak keeper Chard Cromar was the game’s first star for stopping all 20 of the Outlaws’ shots on his net, with Outlaws keeper Isaac Elias the second star for stopping 38 of the Kodiaks’ 41 shots. Schroeder was the third star.
The Kodiaks had an outstanding game at home Nov. 28 against the Grandview Steelers, with a 3-2 win for the Kodiaks.
Kodiak Tyler Cannon got a short-handed breakaway in the second period which he neatly placed into Steelers’ keeper Cale Dolan’s net, to open the scoring. The Steelers responded less than a minute later to make it 1-1 at the start of the third period.
Kodiak Cobe Dean scored on a power play early in the third to take the lead, with assists from Schroeder and Padgham.
The Steelers evened it up a few minutes later, and the end-to-end action was some exciting hockey that period.
Kodiak Spink scored on the power play at 15:53, assisted by Horne and Castonguay.
The action stayed hot and heavy and the Steelers pulled their keeper for the man advantage but couldn’t keep the puck out of the Kodiaks’ defense and the game ended with the 3-2 win for the Kodiaks.
The Kodiaks outshot the Steelers 41-28 and scored twice on five power plays while the Steelers came up short on eight power plays.
The three top stars of the game were Kodiaks Cannon, Steelers’ Jack Hamilton and Kodiak Dean, respectively.
The Kodiaks host the North Vancouver Wolf Pack, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 7:15 p.m. at Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre, then travel to MSA Arena to play the Abbotsford Pilots on Friday, Dec. 7. The Kodiaks host the Pilots on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 7:15 p.m. at Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre.
