A comfortable, engaged retirement enjoyed in a community we love is something we all aspire to, and a brand new apartment residence is making that dream come true in Langley.
Aspire is a new, 148-unit building designed for those age 55+ in the Murrayville neighbourhood, conveniently located directly across from the Langley Memorial Hospital.
Using land owned by the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation since 1985, the Murrayville Rental Housing Limited Partnership was created in 2020 to develop the residence at arm’s length from the Foundation, which fundraises for improvements for the local hospital and health-care.
“When the plan started for the building, we were very thoughtful about what was needed in Langley, and in working with the Township we found that what Langley needed was rental space for seniors,” explains the Partnership’s Vivian Smith, former executive director of the Hospital Foundation. “So, we set out to design a place where seniors would enjoy living and a space that was designed just for them, and we’re really proud of how it turned out.”
As part of that vision, 30 per cent of Aspire’s suites are set aside as affordable housing, priced below market value. In addition, some of the suites are accessible, and others are adaptable, says Allison Gaskell, resident building manager.
“Everyone is really excited about how bright the building and suites are and people love how walkable the neighbourhood is,” Gaskell says.
“But perhaps most of all, many of our new residents are looking forward to building a little community here, whether they’re meeting for a morning coffee in the amenity room or enjoying a walk around the neighbourhood,” she adds.
A home you’ll love coming home to
The one- and two-bedroom suites, some with dens, offer nine or 12-foot ceilings, an open layout, decks, comfortable, easy-care vinyl plank flooring and the convenience of in-suite laundry. Kitchens boast modern cabinetry, a stainless appliance package, plus luxury features like quartz countertops, under-mount sinks and tile backsplash. Portable AC units are also permitted for your comfort.
Additional amenities include a fully furnished guest suite, meeting space with full kitchen, a theatre and games room, a rooftop barbecue patio, 24-hour fitness room, and caretaker services. And, for those looking for a home with their furry friends, cats and small dogs are also welcome. “From the suites and finishings to the building amenities, a lot of thought has been put into this,” Gaskell says.
Outside, residents enjoy landscaped grounds and a nearby trail system that connects to local parks, and neighbourhood amenities including the WC Blair Rec Centre, Murrayville Library, shopping and dining.
Safety has also been top of mind for the building, which in addition to the secure entry and individual residences, includes a secure underground parking.
Residents are moving in now, with occupancy continuing through November. To learn more, fill out the questionnaire here, or call Allison at
