Castle Sewing has been serving Surrey for 76 years.

It’s been a long few months for Castle Sewing team and customers. When a January car fire in front of the store led to extensive smoke and water damage, the Surrey sewing shop moved operations to a trailer while the store underwent repairs.

The silver lining for all, however, is the lighter, brighter, airier new store – a far cry from the cramped quarters in the parking lot they’ve been working from since the New Year!

This month, owners Stephannie and Clint Bulman are thanking everyone for their support though the renovations and welcoming all those new to the community in a June 16 grand re-opening and anniversary celebration. The festivities continue right through June 30.

In fact, it’s the family business’s 76th anniversary – reason alone to celebrate. From the beginning, Clint’s grandfather, James Castle, believed in providing the best in sewing technology, products and service to every customer. Close to eight decades and three generations later, those same tenets apply. So on June 16, there’ll be cake and refreshments, and lots more in store!

1. Learn about the latest tech: Brother educator Lynn Swanson will host demonstrations in the all-new Brother Studio with 10 individual workstations (classroom machines available upon request at no additional cost). “If people want to see the latest and greatest in software and sewing technology, they can come down and visit Lynn!” Stephannie says, noting Castle Sewing is the oldest supplier of Brother sewing products in Western Canada, and carries the full line of sewing machines, sergers and more, plus long-arm quilting machines and related accessories. While in the store, check out the latest classes to take your sewing to the next level.

2. Save big: Shop early for door crashers, take advantage of never-before-seen pricing on selected products and machines, and browse your favourite fabrics starting as low as $5 per yard, Stephannie says.

3. Learn from the local pros: After 76 years of supporting Surrey sewers, there’s no question Castle Sewing is your go-to local choice. “Clint is third-generation, he trained with his grandfather and that knowledge has been passed down,” Stephannie says.

At the same time, Clint, Stephannie and the Castle team are well-versed in the latest sewing machine technology, which has improved how people are practicing their craft. “For new sewers, today’s machines can assist you with your lack of experience and knowledge to get very professional results,” Stephannie says. And, beginning at just $599, that technology is more accessible than ever before.

Building on their long history, Castle Sewing’s highly trained team offers a wealth of knowledge about both products and technique, while their on-site service department boasts technicians with decades of experience with all brands.
