The holiday season doesn’t truly arrive in Langley until the Magic of Christmas Parade comes to town, but you won’t have to wait much longer!

Hosted by the City of Langley, the Langley Advance, the Downtown Langley Business Association and other community partners, the 14th annual Magic of Christmas Parade arrives in downtown Langley Saturday, Dec. 2, bringing a spectacle of twinkling lights and decorations, floats, marching bands and more.

“Year after year our community embraces this exciting event! Families come out to enjoy it rain or shine or snow,” says Councillor Paul Albrecht, Chair of the City’s Parade Committee. “People line the streets three and four deep to enjoy the parade and festive atmosphere. Even the rain can’t dampen the Christmas spirit of this community!” Albrecht says.

Here’s what you need to know to enjoy the parade:

  • Get a head start on the fun at McBurney Plaza where you can enjoy entertainment and crafts from 4 to 6 p.m. Sources Food Bank will also be on hand collecting non-perishable donations from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Enjoy great viewing all along the Fraser Highway route, so find your spot and wait for the floats and parade participants to leave from near 201st Street, at 6 p.m.
  • With the City of Langley council leading the way, the Magic of Christmas Parade will wind its way along the Fraser Highway with more than 50 entries, including festive floats, bands, decorated vehicles, dance troupes and community groups, delighting the crowds with lights and music, before the grand finale: Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving on a horse-drawn carriage.
  • Following the parade, enjoy the tree lighting, Christmas carollers and more in McBurney Plaza … where you might even say hello to Santa before he returns to the North Pole!

“I’m always thankful for our fantastic volunteers who put in so much effort to make this happen,” Albrecht says. “It really sets the tone for the season and brings, the community together.”
