Benches, pump stolen from arboretum

Popular Langley walking spot hit by thieves on Sunday.

Thieves stole two wooden benches and a pump used to water Langley Township's demonstration garden from the Derek Doubleday Arboretum on Sunday.

The theft took place during Sunday's downpour and was noticed as the gates to the popular walking spot were being closed Sunday evening.

The benches had been bolted down, and had been purchased by the Arboretum and Botanical Society of Langley, which has spearheaded the project on Township-owned property west of Langley Airport.

Anyone with information on the thefts can contact Tab Buckner at the Township, 604-532-3504 or Les Clay of the society, 604-530-5188.
