Body discovered in ditch in south Cloverdale

Police believe a body had been in the 176th Street ditch for some time, before a passerby discovered it Saturday afternoon.

RCMP are investigating the discovery of a body in ditch in south Cloverdale today.

Mounties are currently on scene where a body was found in a ditch in South Surrey this afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a report that a pedestrian, walking in the 3600-block of 176th Street had located a body.

The cause of death has not been confirmed.

It appears that the body has been in the water for some time, said police.

Initially Surrey RCMP's major crime unit along with the LMD forensic unit and the LMD integrated collision analysis and reconstruction service have been requested to begin this investigation.

While this investigation is at a very early stage, there is no information at this time that this incident is related to any other on going investigations.

Mounties say No further details are available at this time.

In the meantime, 176th Street has been closed at 32nd Avenue for northbound traffic and may remain closed for some time.
