Body of missing Aldergrove man found in lake

The 67-year-old fisherman was last seen fishing on Elliott Lake, near Fort St. James, on the weekend.

The body of a missing Aldergrove man has been recovered from Elliott Lake after he disappeared while fishing over the weekend.

Fort St. James RCMP were called to Elliott Lake at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 23, to a report of a missing fisherman. Upon attending, police were advised by a family member that the 67-year-old man was last seen fishing from his boat in the small lake, which has a maximum depth of 90 feet. The boat was found floating a drift with no sign of the man or his fishing gear.

Fort St. James Search and Rescue team attended and searched the lake and shoreline. On Monday, Sept. 23, around 6:15 p.m. members of the search team located the male and recovered his body from the Lake. Elliott Lake is located 150 km north west of Fort St. James.

As there is no criminality involved, the BC Coroner Service has taken jurisdiction of this tragic incident.
