The 13-year-old boy who was badly injured when he was struck in a crosswalk last Thursday morning (Sept. 29), is now recovering at home.
The teen suffered a broken femur and head injuries when he was knocked flying by a pickup truck as he, his sister and a school friend walked on the crosswalk on 208 Street at 48 Avenue.
The sister was uninjured, and while the other boy suffered less serious injuries, the 13-year-old was airlifted to B.C. Children’s Hospital.
He was released on Monday, said Gary McCuaig, principal of H.D. Stafford Middle School, the children’s school.
Cpl. Holly Marks said Wednesday that police may consider charging the 50-year-old woman who was driving the pickup with failing to yield to a pedestrian. Police will not act until officers have completed their investigation.
