A fatal hit and run that killed a Langley man remains unsolved a year later, but the RCMP are still looking for clues.

On Dec. 20, 2015, 44-year-old Daniel MacAuley was walking on 200th Street just before 2:30 a.m.

He was found dead in the 2900 block of that street with injuries showing he had been hit by a vehicle, said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

Officers scoured surveillance and traffic camera photos, spoke to nearby residents, and tracked down vehicles matching the suspect car’s description, but so far they have not located MacAuley’s killer.

Police still believe they are looking for a red Toyota Camry, manufactured between 2007 and 2011. The car would have suffered damage to the front passenger side at the time of the hit and run las year, Largy said.

“Fortunately, these types of events are quite rare however, the lack of closure for the family and accountability to society are motivating factors that continue to drive us to seek the answers everyone needs and deserves,” said Supt. Murray Power, the head of the Langley RCMP detachment.

The RCMP has renewed its plea for the public to come forward with any tips or information, not matter how minor or seemingly insignificant, that might help the investigation.
