Photos from the scene of the wildfire east of Harrison Lake indicate a car fire likely started the blaze.
B.C. Wildfire Services confirmed the fire was likely human-caused as photos from witnesses captured a burned-out vehicle seen on the side of a forest service road.
The wildfire has grown to three hectares in eight hours. It is the largest wildfire in the Agassiz-Harrison area since the beginning of the year.

The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) has reported an out-of-control wildfire on the east side of Harrison Lake north of Sasquatch Provincial Park.
The fire was discovered late Tuesday (May 14) evening off a forest service road by a BCWS active wildfires flyer. The fire is under one hectare as of early Wednesday (May 15). The fire is listed as “out of control,” meaning it is not yet responding to fire suppression efforts.
There have been six wildfires in the Agassiz-Harrison area this year as of publication.
