Transit buses in Metro Vancouver could be sidelined if drivers and support staff go on strike.

A strike vote by Metro Vancouver bus drivers, SeaBus staff and support staff is set for April 28 after contract bargaining talks broke down with TransLink's Coast Mountain Bus Co. subsidiary.

Union officials with two Unifor locals claim the 4,700 transit workers they represent are being asked to accept unreasonable concessions.

Local 111 president Nathan Woods said an agreement is still possible that averts transit service disruptions if a "fair wage increase" is offered and concession demands are dropped.
