Some residents in Walnut Grove may have experienced some interruption to their utility services Thursday morning when the driver of a vehicle crashed into a home forcing their shutdown.

“It was possibly the result of sneezing while driving,” said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson with Langley RCMP.

Township of Langley firefighters were first called to the scene in the 21500 block of Telegraph Trail around 6:50 a.m. where a grey Mazda 3 vehicle had struck a residence.

The impact of the crash damaged three vehicles parked in the garage of the home leaving a strong odour of gasoline, Largy said.

The incident also required a response from utility companies, BC Hydro and Fortis.

“The vehicle took out the natural gas and electric utilities,” explained Dale Steeple, assistant fire chief with the Township.

“BC Hydro cut off the power so Fortis could shut off the gas,” he added.

Thankfully no injuries were reported, Steeple confirmed.

A violation ticket was issued to the 47-year-old Langley driver, Largy said, for driving without due care and attention.
