A car with two elderly occupants slammed into a Langley shopping centre building on Friday afternoon, but it appeared no one was hurt.

At about 1 p.m. the car hopped the curb and struck a pillar in front of the Marble Slab Creamery off 200th Street near 64th Avenue.

No one on the sidewalk was hurt, and the couple were sitting nearby after speaking to paramedics later.

The crash sounded like a screech, followed by a bang, said a nearby employee.

The car suffered some front end damage and left a lot of broken glass on the ground from shattered panels in the glass barrier that ran along the sidewalk.

Police, Langley Township firefighters, and BC Ambulance paramedics were on the scene.

The crash is only the most recent in a string of incidents that have seen drivers, mostly elderly, colliding with buildings around the Langleys.
