StageCoach Theatre Arts Schools has a charity concert on Sunday, March 16 from 2 pm at the Queen
Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver. More than 350 students from across the Lower Mainland perform a range of musical pieces to raise money for the KidSafe Project: a Vancouver charity providing nutrition and support to hundreds of vulnerable inner-city children.
“Opening this performance to the public allows us to share the talents of StageCoach kids while supporting an important pillar in our local community. KidSafe reflects StageCoach’s passion for providing programs that not only teach skills, but will equip young people with life skills and confidence to assist them in whatever they will do in the future,†explained Hilary Wight, StageCoach Canada Senior Principal.
StageCoach has schools in Langley, Coquitlam, Langford, Richmond, Surrey and Vancouver.
Featuring students from grades 1 to 12, the event features a range of musical genres and themes performed by each school. Audience members can enjoy interpretations of ‘Being Yourself’, ‘Jungle Rhythm’, ‘Motown’ and even ‘Summer Fun’ to remind them of what’s to come following Vancouver’s cold snap. StageCoach students are triple threat – learning to sing, dance and act.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards maintaining KidSafe’s programs to help Vancouver’s most vulnerable children. Serving more than 450 kids each year, the charity provides a safe haven, nutrition, caring adult connections and educational activities to six elementary schools during school breaks. Audience members will also have the opportunity to donate to KidSafe directly through a raffle with prizes such as a free bursary for StageCoach programs, a David’s Tea prize package, and more.
“In British Columbia 1 in 6 children live in poverty and that means that many children do not have adequate resources to survive let alone thrive. KidSafe continues to be extremely grateful to our donors and partners like StageCoach who generously give of their time, talent, and energy to work towards a better life for some of BC’s most vulnerable children and families.
