City of Langley awards second round of 2015 community grants

Nearly $17,000 in funds delivered to 10 community organizations

Nearly $17,000 in additional community grants are being awarded to 10 organizations in the City of Langley.

The latest round of grants approved by City council on July 13,  totaling $16,818.39, represent a small portion of the $146,085 allocated from casino proceeds for community grants in 2015.

The majority was distributed earlier this year when $111, 587.50 was divided among 43 organizations.

In the latest round, the Community Grant Committee received 14 applicants requesting more than $76,000 in funding.

Of those applicants, the following were approved:

• Boys and Girls Club of South Coast BC — $1,500

• Fibromyalgia Well Spring Foundation — $866.11

• Gateway of Hope Salvation Army — $3,668.28

• Green Ideas Network — $256

• KidSport Langley — $2,000

• Langley Arts Council — $628

• Langley Baseball Association — $1,500

• Langley Meals on Wheels — $1,000

• Langley Rotary Club Charitable

Foundation Christmas Market — $5,000

• You’ve Gotta Have Friends Art Crawl — $400
