Repairs to Langley Bypass which were announced last week have been delayed by the ongoing “torrential rainfall,” engineer Gary Vlieg told Langley City council on Monday.
Last week, the City issued a release, advising motorists to expect lane closures along the Langley Bypass during the day, from Monday to Friday, in order to allow repaving between 56 Avenue and Fraser Highway.
However, poor weather conditions have made the work impossible, he said.
Once conditions improve, the City will issue another notification, Vlieg said, but he added that drivers should also keep an eye on the message boards located at the roadside for updated information.
Once the work begins, delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected.
Meanwhile, work on the new Fraser Highway bridge over the Nicomekl River has also been delayed by the rain.
Final paving and line marking will be completed as soon as there is a sufficient break in the weather, Vlieg said, adding the project is expected to be “substantially complete” within the next six to eight weeks.
