With cold weather expected, an extreme weather alert (EWA) for the Langleys has been issued for Christmas Eve by the Salvation Army Gateway of Hope shelter at 5787 Langley Bypass under the Assistance to Shelter Act.
A statement warned of temperatures "that feel like, or are, 0 Degrees Celsius or below."
“If you are sleeping outside please come to safety of the shelter,” the notice said.
Until further notice, Gateway will be offering 20 mats for adults between 7 p.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Intake will be open until site is full.
The site is wheelchair accessible and pet friendly (on a leash or in a kennel while in the building).
Dinner, breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Laundry service and showers are available.

A special weather statement from Environment Canada has warned "a powerful system" will then hit the north coast late Tuesday evening, with heavy rain and strong winds expected to continue until early Thursday.
