Kamryn Exley had bruising. That’s nothing unusual for an active kid during summer but this unexplainable bruising turned out to be the first sign of trouble. The leukaemia diagnosis came in September.

Blood transfusions are a key treatment for the disease, and Kamryn is asking people to donate blood.

Her friends at the Affinity Jr. Dance Company in Port Kells have organized a donor clinic Nov. 19 at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre,

Kamryn plans to make a scrapbook of donors and has a goal of 200 donations. People are being encouraged to take photos when they donate and post them to their social media sites to help increase awareness.

Word about her campaign has spread and complete strangers have stepped forward to help.

Earlier this year Bryan Shellito heard about Kamryn and decided to do a trek with his dog from Halifax to Quebec to spotlight blood donation.

Others have found the #bloodforkamryn hashtag and been inspired to donate for the first time.

To book a spot for the clinic, contact Canada Blood Services at blood.ca or 1-888-236-6283 (1-888-2-DONATE). People can fill out the questionnare online before their appointment to speed up the process.
