Double murder suspect appears in court

The man who allegedly shot two people last year will be back in court in October.

An accused killer appeared in Surrey Provincial Court last week as he awaits trial on two counts of second degree murder.

Travis MacPhail allegedly shot and killed Brandy Petrie, 34, and Avery Levely-Flescher, 20, on the morning of Sept. 1 last year near 232nd Street and 64th Avenue.

Both victims were found inside a vehicle near the scene. Petrie was declared dead at the scene. Levely-Flescher was rushed to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

Police arrested MacPhail nearby.

MacPhail’s next scheduled court appearanc is not until Oct. 9, for a preliminary inquiry hearing.
