1- What is the most important issue facing the Township, and how would you propose to deal with it?
Balancing growth and services. With the Township's unique demographic of a blend of urban and rural, it's important to get the balance right. Develop where it makes sense and encourage ALR lands to be farmed and utilized better.
2 - Should there be restrictions on development in Willoughby until the situation regarding funding for new schools has been resolved?
It is important to complete the plan for Willoughby. When built out it will be a complete and sustainable community. The Township has set aside the land for schools so the province needs to step up and do its part and build them - or provide a means to transport students to schools in other areas.
3 - Do you support a pool and recreation centre complex in Aldergrove, and if so, when should construction begin? If not, why not?
While serving on council I have championed the need to build a new pool and provide for indoor recreational services in Aldergrove. What the new council must decide is the size and scope of the project and then get it done!
4- What type of development, if any, should be encouraged in a new community plan for Brookswood and Fernridge?
The new council must work with residents and the development community to draft a new OCP that takes into account the unique aspects of Brookswood. Lot sizes may need to be larger than the previous plan proposed - yet density in certain areas is required. The proper balance will make a very desirable community in which to live.
