Election 2018: Incumbent mayor Jack Froese seeks third term

After serving two terms in office, incumbent Jack Froese is seeking a third term as mayor of the Township of Langley.

In a press release issued June 8, Froese said he is proud of the work council has accomplished over the last few years, including the hiring of additional police and fire personnel, the widening of the 208 Street overpass at Highway 1 and the creation of the Township of Langley’s Public Engagement Charter.

“Jack’s strong commitment to the future well-being of the Township of Langley is evident in his record of positive change and achievements over his last two terms in office,” the press release states.

“Having lived in Langley for over 39 years, Jack has raised his family, operated a turkey farm and retail business and volunteered extensively in the community. Through his hard work, he continues to ensure the Township is an exceptional place to live, work, farm and play for all residents for generations to come.”

After growing up on a chicken farm in Abbotsford, Froese and his wife, Debbie, moved to Langley in 1979 to an egg farm. This farm was converted to turkey production — now known as JD Farms Specialty Turkey — and his children continue to operate the business today.

Froese also spent 19 years as a police officer with the Vancouver Police Department, retiring in 2004, and has volunteered as a coach with Aldergrove Soccer, with the RCMP auxiliary, as a board of director for the 2010 summer games and with local Rotary clubs.

“Jack believes that working together and respecting each other’s point of view is the foundation to building a strong future for the Township and for families,” the press release states.

“It’s about respect. It’s about working together. And for campaign 2018 it’s about delivering on the promise.”
