About 30,000 riders took the new Evergreen Line in January, according to stats released by TransLink Wednesday.

That makes up just under half of the 70,000 of the total ridership on the Millennium Line, said media relations advisor Jill Andrews. The 11-kilometre, $1.43-billion Evergreen Line adds onto the Millennium Line at Lougheed Town Centre and connects the Tri-Cities to Downtown Vancouver.

TransLink says that ridership has grown by 10 per cent in the first eight weeks over since opening day on Dec. 2.

In total, 150,000 people have risen the Evergreen Line since it opened and one-fifth of those trips start and end within the Tri-Cities.
