The Fur Trade Challenge Drop In at Fort Langley National Historic Site is still taking place during the school closures.
Families can participate in the educational program Monday to Friday at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m., as long as schools remain closed.
The program offers hands-on activities, allowing people to discover how Fort Langley’s fur trade changed over time, diversified its work force and found a market for new trade goods.
Watch the blacksmith forge products for trade. This program encourages hands on learning with activities such as assembling a barrel, deciphering furs, learning a different language and acting out the Proclamation of the Colony of British Columbia.
Younger families can opt to do the Xplorers Booklet, geared toward children ages six to 12. A parent or guardian is required to stay with children during this two-hour, hands-on program.
Regular admission fees apply: $7.80/adult, $3.90/youth (age six to 16), $19.60/family or free for age five and younger.
Annual passholders are free.

People can pay admission upon arrival (try to arrive 15 minutes before the program time). Drop-in families will also be accepted.
