One man is dead after a fire destroyed a pool house at a single family residence on 76B Crescent near 227 Crescent Wednesday night.

Township fire crews were called out at 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 10, and arrived to find a detached pool house completely engulfed in flames.

About 30 to 45 minutes later, they were told there may be someone inside. Once the fire was brought under control, a search team was sent in and a victim was found.

The fire was contained before it caused any major damage to an adjacent home, also on the property.

"There was a bit of an exposure fire from the pool house ... onto the home, but crews managed to contain it to the exterior and to the roof sector," said Township assistant fire chief Pat Walker.

About 25 firefighters were on scene with three separate stations and six apparatus.

Details on the cause of the fire have yet to be determined. An engine is still on scene, and crews are working with the Langley RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service.

"At this point we are just starting to do our investigation, so it's under investigation as we speak," Walker said.
