A garage attached to a house in the 4500 block of 207 Street went up in flames Nov. 18. Fire crews haven't determined the cause of the fire but managed to save the home from damage.

The cause of a fire that started at the garage of a home in the Uplands area Friday night, Nov. 18, may have been accidental, said Langley City Fire Rescue.

Around 9:30 p.m., fire crews received multiple calls about a garage on fire in the 45000 block of 207 Street. When crews arrived, the garage was fully engulfed in flames and has spread to the side of the house and the fence, said deputy fire chief Pete Methot.

"To the firefighters credit, they were able to stop the fire from advancing into the gables of the house and because of their quick work, this family were able to stay in their home," Methot said.

The home is damaged but livable.

At first, Langley RCMP were called in to investigate but it appears the fire may have been accidental.

"We are not able to determine exactly the cause of the fire," said Methot.
