Flower power

The yellow daffodils that mark an annual drive to wipe out cancer are adorning the lapels of Langley’s two mayors this month.

For Daffodil Month, organized by the Canadian Cancer Society, Township Mayor Jack Froese and City Mayor Ted Schaffer were both pinned by CCS volunteers last week.

Pat Ziola, a seven-year veteran volunteer for the Cancer Society, was on hand to pin the daffodil on Schaffer last Wednesday.

Ziola has lost her mother, in-laws, and cousins to cancer over the years.

Dianne McCafferty, a volunteer and cancer survivor, pinned the plastic flower on Froese on Thursday.

This will be a big year for the Canadian Cancer Society in Langley, with Daffodil Month gearing up, and the 10th anniversary of the Langley Relay For Life coming up this June.
