John William Henry, a former Langley gymnastics coach, has pleaded guilty to 10 counts of sexual assault.

Henry, 32, pleaded guilty to the charges in a Surrey Provincial courtroom on Feb. 16. He will be sentenced Aug. 14. He has been in custody on his own accord since his arrest last March.

Henry had been a coach with the Langley Gymnastics Foundation for four years prior to his arrest.

Originally, Henry was charged with one count of sexual interference with a person under the age of 16.

Police continued their investigation and the number of victims increased to 10 in total. The victims involve athletes he had worked with.

He also faced a charge of child pornography found in his Abbotsford home. It isn’t known if he pleaded guilty to that charge as well.

Langley Gymnastics does criminal background checks on all their staff. Henry had no prior criminal record, confirmed police at the time.
