UPDATE: Homicide investigators probe suspicious death on Highway 1 north of Yale

Coroners Service reportedly on the scene, highway has been closed for 10 hours in both directions

Highway 1 remains closed in both directions as homicide investigators probe a suspicious death north of Yale.

It was around 4:15 a.m. when Boston Bar police responded to a report about a person lying on the side of the highway north of Yale. When they arrived, they found a person with life-threatening injuries who later died at the scene.

Cpl. Mike Rail with the RCMP said the investigation is now in the evidence gathering stage. This involved closing the highway at around 5:00 a.m., as of 5 p.m. the highway remains closed in both directions.

Crews are stationed at Ross Road in Haig, informing drivers of the road closure and only allowing in local traffic and asking other drivers to detour via the Coquihalla Highway (southbound) or north via Spences Bridge and Merritt.

The RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are involved in the investigation, as are Hope RCMP.

The family of a woman missing from Spuzzum for over two months have confirmed that the death is not related to the search for their loved one, April Parisian.

Anyone with information about the investigation is being urged to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-4448 or to email ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
