Three horses were rescued from a barn fire in South Langley early Thursday morning.
The fire broke out in a barn in the 3400 block of 240th Street at about 5:30 a.m., said Langley Township assistant fire chief Bruce Ferguson.
“Fully involved when we arrived,” Ferguson said.
A resident had already removed the horses from the barn, and may have suffered minor smoke inhalation, Ferguson said.
The barn, which was mostly full of hay, was entirely destroyed by the fire, Ferguson said.
Firefighters brought in tankers from all of the Township’s seven fire halls to carry water, as the area is south of existing hydrants and water lines.
There are two barn cats missing as of Thursday morning, but Ferguson noted cats can usually get out of barns.
“They’re probably hanging around on the farm somewhere,” he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious.
