Hundreds gathered in front of the Fort Langley Community Hall on Good Friday to remember and reflect about Jesus Christ's sacrifice.
This past Friday, April 18, continued what has become an annual tradition at the Fort.
Stations of the Cross, hosted by the churches of Fort Langley, is an outdoor services held every year to remember Christ's last moments on Earth.
Through meditations, prayer, song, and the carrying of a large wooden cross to stations positioned around downtown Fort Langley, worshipers reflected upon Jesus Christ's final journey to the cross.
Churches involved were Fort Langley Evangical Free Church, Fraser Point, Living Waters Church, Parish of St. George Anglican Church of Canada, Restored House Chapel, United Churches of Langley - Fort Langley Site, and Wagner Hills Farm.
Once again, Wagner Hills provided a wagon that served as a stage and sound system for the outdoor service. Under partly sunny skies, the wagon was pulled from station to station by a tractor, also from Wagner Hills, a Christian organization that offers residential treatment and counselling to men who have alcohol and drug addictions.
The 2013 service drew an estimated 500 worshipers and the numbers surpassed that this year, thanks in part to the agreeable weather conditions. To help keep the crowds safe as they traveled from station to station through the village, volunteers in reflective vests provided traffic control.
