IHIT is looking into the suspicious death of Langley City resident Lucito Santos Castillo. Mr. Castillo was also known as ‘Cheeko’ and or ‘RJ.’

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is calling the death of a 42-year-old Langley man suspicious.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, just before 10:30 a.m., the Langley RCMP were called to check on the well-being of a resident in a suite at an apartment complex in the 20100 block of 56 Avenue.

When police arrived, a deceased male was found inside the suite. Although foul play has not been confirmed, the death was deemed suspicious, and IHIT took conduct of the investigation, said IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Meghan Foster.

The deceased male has been identified as Lucito Santos Castillo. Mr. Castillo was also known as ‘Cheeko’ and or ‘RJ.’

“The investigation is in its early stages, and while investigators continue to gather and review evidence, the events leading up to Mr. Castillo’s death remain unclear,” said Foster.

IHIT is working with the Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, and the BC Coroner’s Service.  An autopsy and further testing are required to determine a cause of death, and to confirm, or rule out, foul play.

IHIT is asking anyone who had recent contact with Castillo to contact police by calling the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
