Langley cat shelter looking for volunteers to facilitate adoptions

CARES is in need of two volunteers to cover weekly adoption shifts at Langley PetSmart.

Langley’s cat shelter is looking to add two more faces to their team of 60 volunteers to assist with the adoptions of their 100-or-so cats in care.

The Canadian Animal Rescue and Extended Shelter (CARES) provides food, shelter, and veterinary care to rescued cats, and the organization is partnered with PetSmart in Langley.

CARES is currently seeking volunteers to cover two shifts at PetSmart located at 20015 Langley Bypass.

The volunteers would be working in 2-hour shifts on Sundays, either from 12 to 2 p.m. or 2 to 4 p.m.

Volunteers are responsible for meeting with people who are interested in adopting a cat, and facilitating the adoption.

“It’s all about the cats for us,” said CARES president Carol Briner.

“They [volunteers] enjoy the idea they’re able to assist the cats in getting new homes. That’s the most important thing. There’s quite a bit of satisfaction.”

If interested, leave a message at 604-532-5632 and the adoption coordinator will return the call.
