About 600 Langley City residents can expect to be called for their opinions on the municipality.
The survey is conducted every three years to obtain a comprehensive overview of residents’ feedback on municipal programs, services, and other important community issues and overall quality of life.
The City has hired Ipsos to conduct the 15-minute phone survey from June 6 to 20. Only adults with landlines who live in the City are eligible to respond.
The City says though cellphone users are not surveyed, the results are statistically valid.
“Ipsos still feel a telephone survey provides the most random and representative measure of opinion as compared to other data collection methodologies,” said Gerald Minchuk, the City’s director of Development Services and Economic Development.
He noted that Ipsos tested a cellphone sample in 2013 but with no success.
“Everyone we contacted didn’t live in the City of Langley and was screened out of the survey,” he said.
To ensure the survey is inclusive and representative of the community, survey completion quotas will be set by gender, age and neighbourhood.
The results will be posted on the City website (city.langley.bc.ca) in July.
According to the City, survey results are considered accurate to within plus or minus 4.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20 (based on a 600 person sample size).
