Langley firm's birthday is start of a charity tradition

Gilmour Knotts Chartered Accountants is celebrating its 20th birthday by throwing a party Friday.

Nothing odd about that but this one features teams, including friends in the financial sector, doing Amazing Race style challenges and any gifts going to charity.

Four teams have signed up, paying $200 registration fees.

The fees and any funds from the by-donation barbecue will go the charity chosen by the winning team, explained manager Dawn Loeffler.

The public is invited to the 20th anniversary celebration that Gilmour Knotts intends to make an annual charity event.

Loeffler said there are various challenges and provided some detail on some, not wanting to give too much away before the competition.

There’s an Angry Birds inspired accuracy challenge, a test of orienteering skills and the Yummy Challenge, which involves tasting items.

It all takes place at the Willoughby Community Park beside the Langley Events Centre from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We’d like to grow the event,” Loeffler said.

So that means more teams from the community could take part in the future.
