Bays Blackhall, a well-known defender of Langley heritage, has passed away.

She was 86.

The notice posted on the Langley Heritage Society website described Blackhall as a “dedicated volunteer” for 37 years who served with many other community organizations.

“She was often found regaling visitors at the Fort Langley CN Station that she helped save, scooping cranberries for visitors to the annual Cranberry Festival or publicly campaigning for Langley’s heritage,” the notice states.

“Her contributions to community are immeasurable; she will be dearly missed by her family and many friends”

A celebration of life will be held this Sunday, April 30 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fort Langley Community Hall, where Blackhall spent 45 years as a volunteer.
