Little ones got their feet moving inside the palisade walls of the Fort Langley National Historic Site just after lunch on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Runners and walkers, including knee-high tall toddlers accompanied by their parents, did laps around the gravel path that circles the Fort grounds during the Historic Half Marathon Kids Run.

Before setting off, each child took Popsicle sticks, with each stick signifying how many laps they planned to run.

Kids Run distances included one lap for two-year-olds, two laps for three- and- four-year-olds and as many as six laps for runners/walkers ages four to seven.

Each year, the Kids Run precedes the popular Historic Half Marathon, that offered routes covering five and 10 kilometres and half marathon distances, starting and ending at the Fort Langley National Historic Site.

The route takes participants through Fort Langley and Walnut Grove.

The Fort Langley Historic Half Marathon is one B.C.’s first half marathons of the season and marks its ninth anniversary this year.
