Langley man seriously injured in hit-and-run

A witness to the Tuesday night crash followed suspect to home three blocks away. Police arrested the man.

A 62-year-old Langley man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being struck down in a Brookswood crosswalk by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday night.

The man was crossing at 40 Avenue and 201 Street around 10 p.m. when he was hit by a black Dodge truck driving westbound. The victim was thrown to the side believed to have a broken arm, leg and possible skull fracture.

Someone who witnessed the crash followed the suspect to his home three blocks away and called police.

The victim was stable in hospital on Wednesday, said Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks.

Police arrested and released the suspect and his vehicle seized. Langley RCMP don't believe impairment or speed played a role.
