A one-day blitz against dangerous and drunk drivers over the long weekend resulted in 141 tickets and several driving suspensions in Langley.

On May 21, the Langley RCMP Traffic Section focused on several locations and nabbed a number of drivers, said Cpl. Holly Largy.

Partnering with CP Police, they spent time at 88th Avenue and 256th Street, and on both Zero Avenue and 16th Avenue.

In the evening, they moved to Walnut Grove for stops at 88th Avenue at 202nd Street and 197th Street and 96th Avenue.

In total, they gave out 151 violation tickets, said Largy.

Most of those were for speeding, driver’s license issues, seatbelt violations, and driving without due care and attention, Largy said.

Of those, 10 tickets were given for excessive speeding, and nine of those cars were impounded.

Two prohibited drivers were found behind the wheel and charged, and three 90-day and two 12-hour driving suspensions were issued for alcohol offenses.
